POW/MIA., bracelet
6936, Marbev Drive, Cincinnati, OH., 45239, USA
I had, a stainless steel, POW/MIA., Bracelet, with LTC., Atterberry's name, on it. I was, about 9-10, years old, when a friend of my mother gave me, the bracelet. I've long, lost the bracelet, but I remember, his name and I remember reading, the lists of returning POW's everyday, to see if his name, was on it. I've always wanted, to visit the memorial to see if his name, was on it. I would, like his family to know, that someone remembers his name, even all these years, later.

Family Friend
Whenever I visit, the wall in DC, I find, Ed Atterberry's name, to remember him. He was, a close family, friend and I still, remember the day my father, who served with him, told us he had been, shot down and captured, in Vietnam. My father, Col., (USAF., ret.) Robert E. Tarrant, now buried at Arlington, was devastated by the news, about his good friend. I know, he would be happy to know Ed Atterberry, is honored and remembered, for his courage, honor and service, to his country.

I wore Major Edwin Atterberry's bracelet when I was in High school. I can remember checking the morning newspaper every day to check the lists of prisoners that had been released. I can still remember the day that I found Major Atterberry's name on the list for those who had died in captivity. Almost 30 years later I still have that list along with his bracelet.

Discovered him on the History Channel
I learnwd about Mr. Atterbury and many others on the History and Discovery Channels. I look up the names and imagine their lives. I heard tonight about Mr. Atterberry and what he had suffered trying to escape Hanoi and how his friends had described him. He did his best to get out the best way he knew how after so much planning. Though His escape was unsuccessful and He endured mass torture I would like to say thank you Mr. Atterberry for your courage and your guts. You did what you thought was right and though I was too young back then I support you spiritually and all of your fellow captives. Thank you.

My husband & I both wore POW/MIA bracelets many years when we were teenagers and adults. Today I visited the Moving Wall at West Plains, MO and found Major Atterberry's and LCDR Leonard Lee's names. I was saddened to learn they both had lost their lives. I made a rubbing of each name and want the families to know that I thought about these men everyday I wore the bracelet and many times since. I would love to send the bracelet to a family member if they will please contact me. Your loved ones made a great sacrifice for our freedom and they will never be forgotten. My prayers are with you.
