Tribute To A Fallen Brother
I heard about your sacrifice when I arrived in Vietnam in 1970. I did not know your name till today 15 Nov 2014. Your defense of your post, your partner, and yourself were an inspiration to all handlers. Have used your story numerous times to show the courage and commitment of our soldiers. Thank you for your and your partner's service. Robert Bass 1SG(RET) USACIDC

Unselfishly, you left your fathers and your mothers, You left behind your sisters and your brothers. Leaving your beloved children and wives, You put on hold your dreams, your lives. On foreign soil, you found yourself planted To fight for those whose freedom you granted. Without your sacrifice, their cause would be lost But you carried onward, no matter the cost. Many horrors you had endured and seen. Many faces had haunted your dreams. You cheered as your enemies littered the ground; You cried as your brothers fell all around. When it was over, you all came back home, Some were left with memories to face all alone; Some found themselves in the company of friends As their crosses cast shadows across the land. Those who survived were forever scarred Emotionally, physically, permanently marred. Those who did not, now sleep eternally Beneath the ground they had given their lives to keep us free. With a hand upon my heart, I feel The pride and respect; my reverence is revealed In the tears that now stream down my upturned face As our flag waves above you, in her glory and grace. Freedom was the gift that you unselfishly gave Pain and death was the price that you ultimately paid. Every day, I give my utmost admiration To those who had fought to defend our nation. ~Author Unknown~

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. “He which hath no stomach, to this fight, let him depart. But we in it, shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless you, for your Sacrifice!!!

REST WELL, BRAVE SOLDIER!
PFC., CURRIER TRAINED, WITH OUR UNIT, THE 981ST., M.P., COMPANY, (SENTRY DOG) AT FORT CARSON, CO. AND AT LACKLAND, AFB., TX.. WE (MEN & DOGS) DEPLOYED, TO VIET NAM IN DECEMBER, 1967, AS A SEPARATE PLATOON AND JOINED, THE 212TH, MP., COMPANY, (SENTRY DOG) WHICH WAS ALREADY, IN-COUNTRY, AS THEIR 4TH, PLATOON. HE WAS, AS I REMEMBER, AN INTELLIGENT YOUNG MAN, QUIET AND UNAFRAID. DURING, THE TET OFFENSIVE, OF 1967-68, HE WAS WALKING, HIS PATROL POST, WITH HIS SENTRY DOG, AT THE LONG BINH, AMMO., SUPPLY POINT, (ASP.) WHEN THE ASP., WAS OVER RUN, BY VIET CONG. HE DID NOT, LEAVE HIS POST AND WAS KILLED ALONG, WITH HIS SENTRY DOG, WHILE DEFENDING, HIS POSITION. HE NEVER STRUCK ME, AS THE "HERO," TYPE, SINCE HE WAS, A BIT SHY, BUT PROVED HIMSELF ONE, WHEN HE HELD, HIS POSITION AND DIED HONORABLY, DOING SO. OUR COMPANY COMMANDER, CPT., TOM ROBERTS, WROTE PFC., CURRIER'S PARENTS, A NICE LETTER. I WAS JUST, A YOUNG 2LT., IN COUNTRY A FEW WEEKS, AS WAS GORDON AND SINCE THERE WAS, SO MUCH DEATH ALL AROUND, NEVER REALLY REALIZED THE LOSS, HIS PARENTS MUST HAVE FELT. NOW THAT, I'M A PARENT WITH A SON, ABOUT THAT AGE, IT'S EASY TO IDENTIFY, WITH HOW THE LOSS, OF A SON, IS A TRAGEDY, FROM WHICH PARENTS, NEVER FULLY RECOVER. REST WELL, BRAVE SOLDIER!
