Curt  Bruce email@example.com I was his company XO in D/1/3 I was Larry's XO in Delta 1/3 in September 1966. I didn't know him well, having come to the company only the month before. On the day he was KIA, he had been a member of a patrol that, as I remember, detonated a hand grenade rigged as a booby trap along the side of a trail. One small fragment went between his helmet and his flak jacket and hit him in the back of the head.
I had the duty of identifying his body at the morgue. I remember that his squad leader, Sgt. Paul _____, spoke highly of him.
Larry was my last casualty before I returned from that tour.
Semper Fidelis, Marine!
