Bill was in my class at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He broke his leg on E&E during the last part of our training. I was assigned to CH-47 transition after flight school, and Bill was recovering from his leg injury. We went everywhere together. We were invincible then. How wrong we were. I miss Bill.

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings, Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things. You have not dreamed of wheeled and soared and swung, high in the sunlit silence, hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace, where never lark, or even eagle flew, and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of God. Memorial Day, 2000, Bill, ~ It will be, 30, years, in Oct., since you, were KIA., while flying a chopper, in Vietnam. I flew, in choppers, as a gunner, so I can identify with the ghastly way, in which you died, for our country. I didn't know, you, in our hometown, you were older, than I, but not, anymore Cahill. Thank you, for taking my place, on that damn, WALL, Warrant Officer, Bill Cahill. YOU WILL, NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. not by, this Haverhill, Nam Vet! I once met, Bill, He was, a fine young
Hampstead, NH., 03841, USA
I'am so proud, to have met, you, Bill. It was, a tremendous sacrifice, that you made, for our country. Bill Cahill, You once sat, at my kitchen table, while you were dating, my cousin Diane. I was totally, impressed, by your take-charge, attitiude, patriotism and commitment, to anything, you undertook. Your presence and good nature, were something, that I'll never forget. You were, a role model, that, even though, I only briefly, met, you, I will, never forget you. God Bless you, who gave your life, for our country, during one, of its darkest hours. Without men, like you, we wouldn't have, our freedom, today. I cannot imagine, the dedication, it took, to attempt, to carry out, your mission. Knowing, that the odds, were against you, yet you, carried on. Thanks again, Bill and I'm really glad, that I had, a chance, to meet you. God bless you and may you, rest in peace. Bless you, Mike Rogers
