THE ONE RED ROSE FAREWELL TO A COMRADE

Billie N. McDonald

Vietnam Vet 68 & 69
Served in Chu Lai and Long Binh.
Old Chief Warrant Officer, Ordnance Corps, Army.
Was Asst Div Ammo off for Americal, and Ammo Off of one of the Brigades
Then took over supply officer of Long Binh Ammo Depot,
as ranking Ord WO in country, largest ammo depot in world history.

The one red rose
represents a lost comrade
and has a spiritual
meaning as well.

The one red rose
reminds us of
our patriotic heritage.
"E Pluribus Unum",
one for all
and all for one,
and the one
God we worship.

The red is for
the blood
shed in battle
that others may live
as Jesus shed
his blood that
we may have
everlasting life.

The essence
and the beauty
of the rose
are the memories
we must keep
for lost ones,
and the release
of the spirit
to be with God,
leaving
the vessel on earth.
