Today is my 30th, anniversary, being married, to Diana and I'am thankful. Today is also the 36th, anniversary, of a battle date, I will never forget. I had to go to work, today and it wasn't any differentm than any other day. As I looked at the clock, wondering, if it was lunch time, I saw instead the ambush being kicked off, at 11:57, AM., 16, September 1966. I wasn't trying to think about it, but it was there. Again, I looked at the clock for my 2, o'clock break and saw, we had been in the valley, pinned down and trying to reach the high ground, for the past two hours. I still hear the sounds, of a fierce battle raging. Again I looked, time to go home. No, we have reached, the high ground and are trying to get our wounded, to it and messages of help, back to the Rockpile, again not really thinking, about that day. I have had tears in my eyes, all day and not because, of the killing and dying we had to do this day, 36, years ago, but because I wanted so bad, to tell you guys, how much you and the guys that stayed behind, meant to me, how much we meant, to each other and to thank you, for standing, beside me and each other, so long ago. I'am mad at myself, because all I can come up with, is, to thank you for being there, so I can enjoy taking my wife out, on our 30th, wedding anniversary. I'am, usually not, at a loss for words, but for whatever the reason, today I'am, so all, I will say is, Thank each one of you, for my life, YOU are my HEROES and I love you.
