Rolling Thunder. . . Contributed By Julie Watts On Tuesday, May 29, 2001 I watched the Rolling Thunder rally this last Memorial weekend with my 6 yr old daughter Hannah. My heart aches for the families of those still gone, but yet our Government promised never to leave them behind. How do you explain to a 6 year old? I tried thru my tears to explain that these were not just names, that real people, real fathers, brothers, cousins are still missing. Still somewhere. They deserve to be brought home. I promise that all my children and grandchild will understand that they are the next guard, the next to be on watch and to take care of those MIA/POWs.Never will we forget you or your families. Thank you to all the vets and the families for the price you paid for our freedom. My love to all of those who have served and who are serving us and thier families. You are my Heros.
Missed this day in "67"-"68"-"69" . . Contributed By Butch Van Ellen On Tuesday, May 29, 2001 Having been a POW and being in country for almost three years I've had my share of war stories and this isn't the place for them either. I see so much that hurts so bad the way too many people and children show dissrespect for the flag Me and thousands of others fought for. Sometimes I'd like to put these people in my place for a short while. Then maybe they would understand my tears.

Rolling Thunder Ride to The Wall, 2001 . . Contributed By Kathi On Thursday, May 31, 2001 I am so very grateful to have been blessed to make it to another ride to The Wall this year. What an awesome sight, and the feelings were, for me, saddness but thankfulness for having been a small part of that great support for such a incredible cause.the MIA/POW issue. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the guys that served our country and made it home.and I have shed many a tear for all those who didn't make it home. If you have not had a chance to visit that splendid memorial in Washington, The Wall, may I highly suggest you take the long walk to just view the names and see your own reflection in the wall, and as you do, count your blessings that we have such honorable men and women who served and remember that the names on that wall are of the ones that gave the ultimate price so that we can live, speak, travel, feel and think free.Thank you.each and every one and may God bless you and walk with you always.

They don't understand. . . Contributed By Lynn. On Friday, June 01, 2001 I have a friend who haas been out of college a couple of years and recently sent me a photo he took of The Wall. I responded by thanking him for the photo. I was really surprised at his response: "I personally hate that place. I hate the the representation of the wastefulness of our government that couldn't decide whether to do or to not do. I hate the loss it represents. And I hate reading things left there. I've a photograph and all you can see is the letter 'Dear Dad'. While I was there . this 16 yr old (About) was crying. walked up to her mom. and said "Why did you make me read that? Why did you do that? You knew it would make me cry". to which her mother responded "Because you need to understand what they did for us" I don't try to think about what I'm seeing while taking photos. I've trained that out to some regards. but sometimes. it still hits you. That was a rough night." I was personally disturbed to see news reports on TV that many young people don't know WHERE Pearl Harbor is. Some even think Pearl Harbor is a person. I wonder how many of them don't know where Vietnam is. Lynn.
