I am the daughter of Captain Erle Lawrence BJorke. I believe he was the pilot of a C-130 that crashed in Quang Tri, South Vietnam on October 15th, 1967. In particular an area called Khe Sanh. I am looking for anyone that knows him or came in contact with him or saw the crash. Any answers I can find would be very helpful. Please contact me at Blanksma@aol.com

Memorial Day, flags at half staff, "who died?"
. . Contributed By Randy Hyde On Thursday, June 07, 2001
Someone once asked that question. Many have, among them: Alfred Eli Alvey Jr., Michael Allen Clause, Robert Earl Grant, Earl Thomas Hoag, Roger Hayden Howes, Douglas Wayne McPhee, Matthew Edward Morton Jr., John Larry Motley Jr., James Michael Norman, Wayne Louis Noth, Roger Wayne Smelser, David Edward Theobald, Leon Tisdale, Jack Elwin Williams. I have seen so many heart wrenching requests for information from family members and friends. I knew these fine men and am willing to provide any information or help that I can. RIP my brothers, Randy Hyde, B/2/502 Infantry, "STRIKE FORCE!"

Cpl Steve Blaskovich Jr. 31 years later
. . Contributed By BETTY On Sunday, June 10, 2001
On June 8-1970 we lost Steve in a land so far from home. Steve was in the Army 1/46 I can't believe it has been 31 years ago. The pain and memories are as fresh as if it were today. the years have been many and so has the pain our family stills feels today, it never goes away and we think of him every day. We was blessed to have had Steve with us for 20 years, but that don't ease the heart ache we feel to this day. Steve and myself was 3 years apart in age and had a bond like a sister and brother, even tho I am his Aunt. I love and miss you Steve. I have a Website in Memory of Steve, I'd be honored for all to visit and write in the Guest Book on the site. http://cplsteveblaskovichjr.homestead.com/SteveBlaskovichJr.html --- *BETTY* AUNT
GOD BLESS (ALL) THAT SERVED AND THEIR LOVED ONES AND THOSE WHO WHERE LEFT BEHIND. I SAY THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY ?
. . Contributed By BOBBY D. ARD On Tuesday, June 12, 2001
MEMORIAL DAY.IS IT TRULY A HOLIDAY TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO SERVED THIS GREAT LAND OF OURS? IF YOU ASK THE YOUNG FOLKS IN SCHOOL THEY'LL QUICKLY RESPOND THAT IT'S NOT! I CAN'T BELIEVE SOME OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEMS IN THIS COUNTRY. MEMORIAL DAY TO KIDS IN SCHOOL IS JUST ANOTHER SCHOOL DAY FOR THEM. I SPOKE RECENTLY TO ONE YOUN LADY WHO INDICATED THAT SHE DESIRED TO NOT GO TO SCHOOL ON MEMORIAL DAY NOT TO JUST BE OUT OF SCHOOL BUT TO HONOR THOSE WHO SERVED AND TAKE PART IN MEMORIAL DAY ACTIVITIES. HER PARENTS AGREED BUT WHEN THEY NOTIFIED THE SCHOOL SHE ATTENDED THEY WERE QUICKLY TOLD THAT IT WAS A "PLANNED EXAM" DAY AND SHE WOULD NOT BE EXCUSED IF ABSENT NOR BE ABLE TO RESCHEDULE EXAMS MISSED IF NOT IN ATTENDANCE. WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE DOES THIS CONVEY TO OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ABOUT MEMORIAL DAY? I AM ASHAMED OF OUR SCHOOL SYSTEMS IN SOUTH CAROLINA. SOME ACTION MUST BE TAKEN TO CORRECT THIS ATTITUDE. ANYONE WHO READS THIS. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT AND WRITE A LETTER TO OUR STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION AT: STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, RUTLEDGE BUILDING, 1429 SENATE STREET, COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA, 29201. LET THEM KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS SITUATION. I AND VETERANS IN SOUTH CAROLINA WILL APPRECIATE THE TIME YOU TAKE TO HELP US CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU.

SSGT CLAUDE (Mick or Mac) MC BRIDE, USA
. . Contributed By Clinton "Jack" Zimmerman On Tuesday, June 12, 2001
Does anyone remember Mick, KIA 8/23/63, #51 man killed, awarded Silver Star & Purple Heart, served w/Special Forces? Had a camp named for him in Vietnam (Camp Mc Bride) & street named for him (Mc Bride Street) in Ft Lewis, Washington. Mick was my best friend, came to visit me on R&R while I was stationed in Okinawa. He also had a good Army buddy, Buck Crow that also came on R&R to see me in Okinawa; Buck made a trip to Mick's parents to visit them upon rotation only to learn that Mick had been killed. At the time of his death, I was stationed in Germany & unable to get home. Prior to going to Vietnam, Mick was divorced & had an infant son - status & whereabouts unknown. Mick is at rest now, side by side with his parents in the local veteran's cemetery. I have posted a picture of Mick and a tribute to him on the home page of this site; there is also a tribute from his former CO. I will always keep his memory alive - because you see, I am proud to have been his best friend. Jack Zimmerman.
