Another Brother Brought home

I am writting cause my two older brothers and I served in Vietnam.Back in 1967 when my oler brother went to nam my mother bought 3 bracelets to help support the POW's & MIA's and she had a Col.James Lewis and has worn it for almost 40 years.A week and half ago she got a letter from the group telling her that they found his and his co-pilote's remains of a Maj. Arthur Baker together in a Loasa jungle were they were shot down in April 7th 1965.The Maj was buried last friday at Longview Texas.Th Col. will be buried tommorrow at Marshal Texas. The Maj. daughter I got in contact with to try and find out about Col. Lewis's family.I called the funeral home and they said they would contact the family for me. I went to my mom's house an hour later and she told me that she just got done talking to aBarbra Lewis the Col. wife.It just so happens that our family reuion is tommorrow and we will send a ballon for the two pilots in honor of their service for our counrty.Just thought I had to tell someone that our brothers are coming home slowly but will all be home soon.

Dannys tour of duty began on Jan 5, 1968. He was killed on March 31,1968, the day we started bombing North Vietnam. He was in the 101st airborn, 501st infantry, co. D. He was in Thua Thien South Vietnam. He was loved by many.

U.S.M.C. Sgt.Ski killed last night in country on listening partrol off of Hill 55 lost all com 2531 got bronze star ,attempting to locate men that were also on that partol.

I KNOW A YOUNG LADY WHO WISHES THE FAMILY OF CAPT JEFFREY LEMON (USAF) MIA 04-71 FOUND TO RETURN HIS BRACELET WHICH SHE HAS BEEN WEARING. JEFFREY WAS BORN AUGUST 13TH 1943 AND LIVED IN FLOSSMOOR ILLINOIS.

Looking for Mark who last lived in Idaho. Served with me in the B company 2/502 first brigade 101st airborne July '67-july '68. Also served with a guy called Peoples, the best fighter I ever knew!

In Honor Of Capt. William L. Phillips

My brother, Captain William L. Phillips, served in Viet Nam with the 1/503 173rd ABN and was killed on January 20, 1970. He died trying to save a wounded comrade and was himself hit by "friendly fire". Bill, as we knew him, died doing what he felt was his duty and I am proud of him for that. Today, as then, we are engaged in an unpopular war with many people speaking out against our leaders. None of their words can undo the pride I have in my brother and his courage to stand up for freedom, not only for America but for anyone of any nation that needed help. I am proud of Bill and of all the men who fought beside him. May God bless each. If you knew Bill, please contact me.

Claude R Gibbons

This is the first time I have had the courage to find Claude's name on the wall. When I read his obituary in the paper all those years ago, I couldn't move. I couldn't breathe. The Claude I knew from Sister Mary Phillips first grade class at Sacred Heart had always been my hero. He was always protecting me. After my dad died that year, Claude was always there to hold me up. We moved and I didn't see him again until by chance I ran into him at Jones Park at the swimming pool. I ran up to him and asked him did he remember me and he never forgot me. He was so amazed that I remembered him. My protector never forgot me. I remember that summer and the next that all he talked about was going into the Army and earning a Congressional Medal of Honor for his dad, who had also passed away a few years after mine. I don't know what I can really say to express the type of character he had. He was the best of the best. The hole he has left in this world is unfathomable. If I remember correctly, he once told me that his dad named him Claude for a French Resistance Fighter he knew during WWII. His father I think was a Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. At least that is what I thought because he was so gung ho to earn that medal to be like his dad. I remember he took a lot of flak for his speech defect. He had this terrible curse of a speech defect. It was hard for him to get folks to take him seriously because of it. Every day he got up and went out into the world with that speech problem and every day he walked out without fear to face all that abuse. All he ever wanted to do was the right thing. All he ever wanted to be was the man he thought his father wanted him to be. O! I remember you, Claude! Those of us who really knew you will never forget you. Since then his brother and mother have both passed on. There are to my knowledge no survivors in this family. We all love you Claude. Stay our hero and clear the road of the devil to save us on our way to heaven with you. I know you're still fighting the good fight. Love ya, Jennifer

Pfc. Watts became a casualty (KIA) on this date August 17, 1968. He was another 18 year old Marine. So Young, yet so Brave. Watts was from Philadelphia and was with 3rd Platoon Alpha Company 1st Battalion 27th Marines. I was honored to have shared the field of battle with him. Semper Fi, bro.
