It has been 36 years ago today that dreadful March 16 that we lost you. Oh! How I had hoped that they would not send you over there, especially since I had just returned from the terrible place and your brother-in-law was still serving there. How much should one family have to sacrifice in this day and age we all felt! Twenty is too young to die, but you looked much older after your first tour.You are still remembere fondly to this day by all who have had the honor of knowing you.

Randy it was 35 years ago today that you died just outside of Khe Sanh. A piece of me died that day with you. Dennis, Jim, Doc, Paul and the rest of the guys miss you. Your sister Wendy has forgiven us for not bringing you home and it has helped. Your are not gone nor forgotten buddy. You live in all of us each and every day. We all Love and Miss You. they did it for you and me not just for them but can you imagine what they did to help you out and the life you have not might not of been possible and i think you should put a special place in your heart for the ones that made this life possble for you, your chldren, and myself i think not just one person could of ever did this alone and i think it is great we will never forget the ones that were there for us and made it possible for us to have a life as we do now i thank of you as you thank of the ones that never gave up on the things they wanted to make possible i think that was all the courage they had in their bones THANK YOU ALL OF YOU I AM SO GREATFUL FOR THOSE WHO CARE ABOUT OTHERS NOT JUST THEM!

Your thoughts are appreciated and most appropriate for some. For me, a little too idealistic and much higher than I was thinking at the time. I volunteered for the draft just to get it over with. Through a series of circumstances, I ended up walking point for nearly ten months because I couldn't bring myself to ask someone else to do it. I shut down my emotions because they were a distraction from my immediate surroundings. They said I was good at my job because I came home. I secretly knew it wasn't because of me. Back in the World, anger and cynicism became my normal response to humanity which couldn't do better than Vietnam. After 30 years of desperately trying to do it my way, I discovered I had lost the battle. Only then was I able to accept the fact that it really wasn't about me after all.
