Forgotten

In Vietnam 58,000+ Marines,Soldiers,Sailors, Airmen died. If every adult American after thinking about it for 40 years had stopped by one time to leave a remembrance there would be about 2,000 postings per fallen. Instead we have about two to three postings per American loss. Just as in Iraq today nobody except the families of those killed even knows they were lost. As in Vietnam they have not been forgotten because they were never noted in the first place.

Unthinkable

At the end of World War One the big thinkers held many meetings and discussed the unlikelyhood of another war being as war had become so devastating and involved civilian populations with aerial bombardments etc. At the end of World War Two the big thinkers again met to dicsuss the fact that with the advent of the atomic bomb a Third World War was "unthinkable". In the battles that followed the people discussed "the lessons "that had been learned from these conflicts.

firet of all I would like to salute all veterans who served in Vietnam and all wars,the United States have fought. The reason why I'm writing this letter is to see if there is anyone out there who can help a fellow vet. his name is Vincent L. Garrido who served in vietnam in 1967,68.he was wounded in the line of duty, Vince was shot in the right knee,after serving in vietnam he was permanently disable where he could never walk the same, he could'nt hold a job because he was'nt able to stand long enough, or because he walk with a limp.Vince was classified as 10% disability by the V.A. since he left Vietnam he was never able to hold a steady job,was'nt getting any pension from the V.A. or in title to be seen at the naval hospital here in Guam.Vince now is 58 years old, and still trying to get assistant from the V.A. because we live in Guam and we are so far from the U.S. mainland,veterans are not really being look into on this side of the world.All I'm asking is for anyone who can help our fellow vets here in Guam and around the world who maybe in the same situation as Vince,to please come foward and give us a call and let us know what to do and how to go about in helping out a fellow vet.Note: Vince Garrido served with the big RED ONE infantry division,Vince is also from the island of Guam,which is a territory of the United States,which the chamorro's who are the indiginous people of the land, have served in every war the United States have fought,since World War -I I'm the first cousin of Vince Garrido who should I say was only 3 yaers old when the Americans entered the war in Vietnam,I feel for all Vets who have gone or who are still with us who may be in the same situation ,that they get the help they the deserve. Let Us Not Forget The Sacrifice that they gave to there Country. Thank You and may GOD BLESS every Veteran and there Family.

Dad died before I could know him

my dad was a us army vietnam vet who died in 2001 ,and lived in maine in 3 areas corith,corinna,and born in bangor. his name was Gerald Byron Shaw born jan 7th 1949 who has a son .Eric B Shaw (my brother)who is from exeter maine who is also in the army. I would like to find my brother and also receive some pictures of both of them if thats possible. Looking for a good friends father. His name was Gerald Byron Shaw, he was born in Bangor Maine. His son and daughter-in-law are looking for him or pictures of him. He served in the Army over in Vietnam in the 60's not sure what year or what unit. Any information would be great. Thanks for all you did. I am so thankful for your services.
