My good friend, Fish.
Fish and I went, to high school, together, at N.B.C., Columbus, N.J.. We partied together, played football together and just, remained good friends. I knew, he was quiting school, to join the Corps. He had, told me, privately. Back then, many, of us guys, sat around talking, drinking, or what have you, of what we all would do, after high school. All of us, agreed, join the military and serve, our country. I bumped, into Fish, while in country and was, so surprised and happy. A few days, later, he was shot, in an ambush. Fish, should have been, the poster boy, of the Marine Corps, he loved it. I located, his mom, (Emma) many years, after I returned, from Vietnam. I told Fish, I would and I, was finally able, to see, her and pass the message, from him, to her. Yeah, I knew her, from high school, but this, was totally different. I think, his dad saw him, before he died, I just don't remember. I thought, he died, that day, of the ambush, but I was wrong. I miss Fish, hell, I miss many buddies, from Nam. Emma, told me, where he was, buried and I have yet, to go, visit, his grave. I will and will, take red roses, his favorite.... Fish and I, kidded one another, that night, in Vietnam, him a Marine, me, Sea Bee..... Peace, be with you, my friend, my brother.... Semper Fi

“You are Remembered”
Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. “He which hath no stomach, to this fight, let him depart. But we in it, shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless you, for your Sacrifice!!!

Fellow Marine
Well done, Marine, rest in peace
THE TIME you won your town the race We chaired you through the market-place Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high. To-day, the road all runners come, Shoulder-high we bring you home, And set you at your threshold down, Townsman of a stiller town. Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose. Eyes the shady night has shut Cannot see the record cut, And silence sounds no worse than cheers After earth has stopped the ears: Now you will not swell the rout Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran And the name died before the man. So set, before its echoes fade, The fleet foot on the sill of shade, And hold to the low lintel up The still-defended challenge-cup. And round that early-laurelled head Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead, And find unwithered on its curls The garland briefer than a girl’s.
A.E. Housman, "Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you. I've called your name. You're mine.

A treasured friend
I met Robert when I was eight years old. My parents and his parents were very good friends. My dad use to carry us to sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Niceville, Fl. We shared many family gatherings. Enjoying what Robert loved most Tom's Bayou skiing. My dad was always eager to pull us kids on a Sunday afternoon. As we grew both of our families were transfered to California. The Fischer's at Lompoc, Ca. Vandenburg AFB and we were at TravisAFB in the Northern part of Ca. Being military we wanted to share the holidays with those close to us when we were far from home. So our family would travel to Lompoc for Thanksgiving or Robert's family would come to our house. We were teenagers by this time and confided in each other about what was going on in each others lifes as a teenager. What a smile and those beautiful eyes. It wasn't a romance it was more like brother and sister. His family then was transferred to McGuire AFB. the next time I saw him was when he was returned from Viet Nam. His family was still in NJ so our houses became theirs at this time. All the visitors . I remember how angry I was. It just wasn't fair. This was Robert's home and his family thought he should rest in a place he loved looking over the bayou. My mother and his mother would go and arrange flowers at the cemetery now his mother is a nursing home and all of her men are buried together. My Dad is also buried there and when I visit I often think of the two of them as beig together and talking about those old times we shared. Robert was a wonderful person loved my all that met him. After his mother was placed in the nursing home they auctioned all of her household things and among them was a notebook that Robert kept in Viet Nam. I just couldn't see it going to someone who never had the pleasure of knowing the SUPER guy! Love you Robert!
