Memories
Paul Hill was a good man, who faithfully served his country. He has simple dreams of one day settling down with a wife and family in his hometown. I still remember partying with him at Treasure Island shortly before he departed for Vietnam and his fate. We had a great time and none of us had any idea what was really happening. Paul found out when he arrived and became a target of the enemy as a medic, the day after his birthday and only shortly after he arrived for duty. Whenever I'm home in Upper Lake visiting my mother and family, I usually saunter up to the nearby cemetery to check the graves of loved ones. Paul's marker is there among other fallen war heroes and he will never be forgotten.

Hello, Paul and I served together at the reserve station at Lake Mendocino. It came a as shock to me that we had lost Paul. I didn't find out about his passing until I had returned from Vietnam, in late January 1968. I have visited the wall a few times and always search him out. The last time I saw him, after a reserve meeting, we were both traveling North on 101, me to Willits and him to the lake, he took the Hwy 20 turnoff, and I watch his taillights until he went out of sight. His little car was quick. Paul was great person, and he knew he was entering a toss of the dice with Vietnam, but we were all so young then. Thank you for letting me say hello.
