Tribute, to a Fallen, 1st, Cav., Hero
Remembering, this Young Hero, on his birth date, with a Multitude, of Thanks, for his Courage, Service and Dedication, to our Country and for Freedom. Rest well and know, that you will, NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I'am the sister, of another young, 1st, Cav., hero, who made the Supreme Sacrifice, in Vietnam, 1967.... They shall, grow not old, as we that are left, grow old. age shall, not weary them, nor, the years condemn. At the going down, of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. TO ALL THE MEN, OF THIS GREAT UNIT," 1ST, CAV., (AMBL.) I SALUTE YOU, ALL. THOSE OF YOU, WHO GAVE YOUR LIVES, DURING THE FIRST, BIG OFFENSIVE, AGAINST THE V.C., WILL, NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. AFTER, HAVING SEEN THE MOVIE, "WE WERE SOLDIERS AND YOUNG." IT BROUGHT TEARS, TO MY EYES. TO SEE, THE BRAVERY EXHIBITED, BY THIS GREAT UNIT, WAS UNBELIEVABLE. OUT-MANNED, AT LEAST 4, TO 1, NOT ONE MAN, LEFT HIS DUTY AND STAYED, TILL REINFORCEMENTS COULD GET, TO THEM. I WAS, LUCKY ENOUGH AT ONE TIME, TO BE ATTACHED, TO THE 2/5, (FROM THE 101ST, AIRBORNE, DIV.) IN '68 AND WHAT AN OUTSTANDING, BUNCH, OF GREAT WARRIORS! MSGT., BASS, ON THIS DAY, THE DAY, OF YOUR BIRTH AND UNTIMELY DEATH, I MOURN, YOUR LOSS. SOMEDAY, WE WILL ALL MEET AGAIN, IN THAT GREAT P.X., IN THE SKY. REST EASY, MSGT., BASS. "TEN HUT, HAND SALUTE, TAPS."
