possibly a childhood hero of mine

I am trying to contact anyone who may know of or about a young man who died in the early years of the vietnam war whom i knew here in dallas, texas as A D Minton. My understanding is that he was point man on a patrol and was mortally wounded by enemy fire, possibly sniper. He was at the v a hospital here in dallas where he died as a result of his wounds. he was in my mothers sunday school class at Rylie christian church in dallas. He played football at rylie high school and was an all district football player and star athlete. I do not recall what position in football but it does seem it was running back or linebacker. Mom and dad went many sundays to his hospital room and my mom wept as she told us that he had died. I have been unable to locate him on the vietnam veterans memorial website, though mom walked right up to the exact location of his name on the wall, the only time she was able to visit the memorial. she traced his name in pencil and brought it home to show us. mom again shed many tears as she relayed the story this of remarkable young man. If there is anyone who knows if this is the young man I knew, I would appreciate hearing from you. thx, jim duke dallas,tx. 972 286 2653 Thanks!

Cousin

Don was a cousin I never really knew, as I was only three years of age when he was killed. I am intrigued with the war in which he fought and died. As well, I am curious about the circumstances of the incident in which he was killed. Don served in the USMC G Co 2nd Batt PTL 26. I have heard he was killed near a village that was supposed to be friendly, but apparently his unit was ambushed. If there are any survivng vets that knew him or served in same unit, please email. Would be very appreciated. We Love ya cousin.
