With him the moment he was killed.
Celebration Fl 34747
It was an honor to serve with you!
I was an 18 y/o PFC who was new in-country back in December 1968. Walter took me under his wing and guided me through those tough first days. I was in his squad that day we swept through that hill on operation at Batagnan Peninsula. Our company walked into a mine field when multiple detonations took place. He was killed instantly from one of the blasts and I was wounded and medevaced to the USS Tripolo. I sadly lit his cigarette seconds before he died. I will always remember the perpetual smile on his face. I think of him often even after all these years. Semper Fi my fellow Marine!!!

Fellow  Marine
Well done Marine rest in peace

THE TIME you won your town the race We chaired you through the market-place Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high. To-day, the road all runners come, Shoulder-high we bring you home, And set you at your threshold down, Townsman of a stiller town. Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose. Eyes the shady night has shut Cannot see the record cut, And silence sounds no worse than cheers After earth has stopped the ears: Now you will not swell the rout Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran And the name died before the man. So set, before its echoes fade, The fleet foot on the sill of shade, And hold to the low lintel up The still-defended challenge-cup. And round that early-laurelled head Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead, And find unwithered on its curls The garland briefer than a girl’s. A.E. Housman, "Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you.
I've called your name. You're mine.

Friend
I remeber seeing you at Camp Lejeune...I hadn't seen you since 6th grade, but I swore it was you. I wish I would have sAId something. The sign in at the mess hall confirmed it was you. I only recently found out you lost your life in Viet Nam and I still don't quite get over it. We had so much fun at Paul Revere....you were a great guy and I am so sorry over what happened, but you're a hero to all.

Thanks for being such a good friend.I won't forget you.
