He let me tag along!
I think of Dave often even after all these years. Dave lived across the street from me in Keizer Ore. Dave was older than I but he always let me tag along on his hunting adventures to the river. I think we were useing BB guns but we didn't care! I have always been proud to say I was his friend.

Hunting Buddies
I grew up with David in Salem, Oregon. He loved to hunt and he loved motorcycles. We spent many hours talking about which Honda we were going to buy. We both had 22 rifles and would hunt squirrels and birds in "Bum's Hollow", which was a back water of the Willamette River near our homes. David was very proud of his marksmanship and his Remington simiautomatic. After highschool I lost track of David. I went to college for awhile and then joined the Air Force. I was home on leave in '66 and saw David's father in the grocery store. He told me of David's death and began to cry. He said whatever I did to stay away from Viet Nam. I often think of David. I miss him.

JUST REMEMBERING
I remember the day the call came to tell my mother that David had been killed. As she told us kids about his death I don't remember ever being told but I knew in my heart that he was a hero. Thank You David
