Wayne  Byers Cousin 430 E Scott Dr. Saraland Alabama 36571 United States You have not been forgotten Bobby, Even though i was a small boy, I remember the night I got to sleep with you in your room. The bear skin rug was the most amazing thing i ever saw. I also remember when my mother picked us up that day at school and told us of the worst news someone at my age could hear during those days. I was not able to go to your funeral but have learned a lot more about you. A lot of the stories told by Aunt Kathleen were enlightening to hear, a movie should have been made of your short life. After your death, we received some of your marine gear. A tent i remember the most because we use to camp out in the back yard. I always wondered if you ever slept in that tent that had your name on it. Bobby, your death was a life changing event for the whole family. You are still missed and I visit your resting place along with other family members when i get to go home. Thanks for making your family proud. Dec 29, 2012

John  Maguire jrmrunningman@yahoo.com Fellow Marine - Very Good Friend 20876 Prince Lowes Terrace Potomac Falls VA 20165 USA Bobby, You Are Remembered - We were recruits in May 1963 - Platoon 128 Parris Island.
- Bobby returned home for a couple of days during boot camp to be with his family for his Father's funeral.
- Bobby always had fun and the drill instructurs had fun with Bobby, if you know what I mean.
- Bobby was honored at the conclusion of boot camp by receiving the promotion to PFC and a set of dress blues, an honor reserved for the top recruits.
- At the conclusion of infintry training at Camp Gieger I was assigned to Headquarters Batallion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune and Bobby went to Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington, DC.
- Bobby was at Headquarters Marine Corps for a short period before being reassigned, at his request, to 2nd Batalion, 6th Marine Regiment (2-6)Camp Lejeune.
- We crossed paths again at Camp Lejeune when I was attached to 2-6 for deployments to the Mediteranian in 1964 and the Caribean in 1965. Needless to say we enjoyed liberty during those deployments, lots of stories.
- In late 1965 Bobby told me he was headed for Viet Nam. I told him good luck and keep his head down.
- I did not learn of his death until sometime in the Spring of 1966 from another former recruit from Platoon 128.
- I regret that I never met any members of Bobby's family.
- Rest in peace Bobby, you are remembered. In fact, you have never been far from my mind over all of these 45 years.
- One other thing Bobby, do you remember that time in Platoon 128 when we were drilling the manual of arms in the barracks because of weather conditions and the platoon went to left sholder arms and I was the only one that went to right sholder armes? The DIs never noticed my mistake but they noticed that you were cracking up over something. Thanks for not telling them what was so funny. Nov 11, 2011
Tommy  Johnson tjohnson2983@cox.net Friend/Fellow Marine 4307 Warner Lane Chantilly VA 20151 USA I was with Bobby on his last patrol..... he was up front and I was rear guard.... we all heard the gunfire... I lost a dear friend that day.... His heart was bigger than his frame! He always reminded my of 'Hoss' on Bonanza! On his last night prior to our patrol mission, he said 'Tommy... tomorrow will be a special day'..... Maybe he had a premonition that he would be 'called Home by our Father'...... I will NEVER forget you Bobby!! May 30, 2010
