Ray Adam Archuletta
Ray was, loved and respected by all members, of his immediate, family and relitives. Those, that knew him, knew, what he stood, for and what, he loved most. He will always, be remembered and loved, by those who loved him, most. His family, was hurt by the passing, of this paratrooper. The only way, that seemed to help was, to name, a son, after him, because he, did not have a chance, to do so, himself. May God bless his name, forever and never let, it, die out. Someday I hope to see, a picture, of him in these spaces, so others can remember him, as we do.

I remember you, as always, being a brother. The time, I did not want you, to go and play, pool and I got, my finger run over, with your model, T, Ford. The time you, took me, to The old, Emerson School, in Florence. I didn't want, to stay there, without you, so I ran away. Every time, you came home on leave, from the service and then, went away again. The last time, you left, for Nam and left me, the 64, SS., so I could run, the shit out of it, while you was, getting your ass, shot off. Now I remember, you, as the Hero from Florence, who died, for his country, so that some, of us could have, a better life. It is now, many years, later and I still miss, not having you, around. That, what life, has been like, since you left. I joined up, not 6, months, after you died and let me, tell you brother, I had a reason, to go and that asshole, Commanding Officer, I had back then, thought he was, my Dad and would not, let me go. Some, of your 101st, brothers, had you for a brother, for a little while, but you will always, be my brother, dead, or alive. Now I'am, an old man and I've seen military men, get out of the service, because they didn't want, to go, to war and the old ladies crying, because they are new, Gold, Star mothers. How, are they going, to deal with their lives, later on, in life. Well now, I said it, so lets see, if they will print it. So Long, for now!

Archuletta was, the Best NCO., Ever
I went, to the field, west, of Duc Pho, on July 25, 1967. The old hands, began to pile, the collective goods, we carried on me. Sergeant, Archuletta, intervened and lightened my load. He had only, a few minutes, to get me, ready, for a helicopter assault, of a mountain and paired me, with a Spec., 4, he had great respect for, named Witt. He got us, through, a tough night, on LZ., White, (AKA: Hill 113) on the first day, of Operation Benton, which began, with our Lt., Thomas Petramalo, being mortally wounded. Within a week, we went from 144, men, to about 57. Archuletta, not only got us, through this, but coached Lt., Fred Myers, on how, to do the job. I was not, with Archuletta, when he died, because I was, in a hospital, with malaria and I missed him, very much, when I returned.
