pete boyum gpbones@aol.com friend I remember John as a gifted athlete who always had a friendly smile and greeting. I competed against him many times in American Legion baseball. I was very saddened to see his name on this list. Monday, January 31, 2000 |

He would not have been hit that day if he had not been up moving and directing fire. I only hope his family knows the great job he did for his country. Saturday, January 15, 2000 |

Loyde Arender Snake0331@webtv.net Fellow Marine and Friend 455 Forest Oaks Road Monroe, LA 71202 USA Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 9th Marine Amphibious Brigade, 1st Marine Division http://www.tpbe.net/KiloCo3rdBN26thMarinesVietnam/ LT John Joyce, USMC was killed on 17 April 1969 while participating in Operation Oklahoma Hills on Charlie Ridge located atop the mountains of the A Shau Valley in Quang Nam Province of South Vietnam. LT Joyce was a fine Marine officer who cared for his men and, he lost his life while "leading from the front" near Point-Man position during a direct assualt on a heavily fortified enemy machine-gun bunker which was occupied by skillfully trained, hardcore North Vietnam Army (NVA) soldiers who were determined to fight to the last man while defending the entrance to their large underground NVA hospital. "America paid dearly" for "taking that enemy bunker" and, many of us lost a good friend. Sunday, April 17, 2005 |

Jackie Taylor You, Sir, Have Not Been Forgotten! http://www.geocities.com/rememberance004
I had the opportunity to visit The Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC. I was so overwhelmed with sorrow and pain that I could not hold back the tears for those heroes and their families who lost so much. Though my visit to the Wall was a few years ago, I feel that I left a piece of my heart there. To honor those who died in the Vietnam War and to say thank youàI created a small tribute to those heroes. Please click on the link above to view memorial website. Saturday, April 17, 2004 |
