Barbara Scheibel scheibel711@aol.com Sister 3364 Palm Circle Kennesaw, GA 30144 USA From Dad "You were so young, so handsome and fair. You loved to fly, So you took to the air. You longed to wander You wanted to soar. So in the wild blue yonder, You are there forevermore. We miss your smile, Your humor and jest. You went the last mile. You gave it your best. We will see you somewhere, When our race is run. So please be there. We miss you, my son!" This poem was written by Floyd K. Layton, Ron's father, to be left at the Wall in 1988 by his sisters, Barb Scheibel and Pat Wickersham. Dad passed away on September 7, 2001. They are together again. Thursday, October 25, 2001 |

Roni Brunner wickershamron@aol.com Niece Utah 84414 USA The Uncle I Never Knew Mom was pregnant with me when you died. She named me after you even though I was a girl. I have asked her about you often throughout my life. I feel like I know you through her memories but wish I could have known you! Now I have lost my big brother and realize that my children ages 4 and 2 will have to know him through my memories. I know you have met Shawn again and that comforts me. I'm so proud of my uncle Ronnie and hope my namesake is proud of me. Tell my brother I miss him. Love your niece, Roni Thursday, October 25, 2001 |

Ronda Ficklin ronda@us.ibm.com Niece 1010 Lake Royale Louisburg, NC 27549 usa My Guardian Angel For as long as I can remember you have always been with me. Like Roni, my mother, Barb, was pregnant when you left us. My first memory of you is my name. I have always taken great pride in correcting people on the spelling. I was named for you and I wanted everyone to know it! Learning the lesson of freedom began with you. Love of country and those that protect it was built on stories of your bravery and pride in serving your country. As Grandpa Layton, Grandma Jewell, and Cousin Shawn have come home to God this year, it was of great comfort to know you were there to show them the way. I know you are always with me, guiding me through my life. I am very blessed. Until the day we will finally meet, my thoughts and love are with you. Much love - Ronda Monday, October 29, 2001 |
