A Fallen Comrade
I had the occassion to know SFC Lewis for only a few hours before his departure from the field of battle. We were in xuan loc provience, roadmarching back to Bien Hoa when my armored personnel carrier, hit a mine. I lost my crew, and SFC Lewis. May he rest in peace. America has lost another guardian of freedom.

SFC Lewis was part of the operations S-3 team of the 1st Squadron, 17th Cav, 82nd Airborne Division. I was assigned asa 2nd Lt. as a S-3 Liasion officer. This was Sgt Lewis' assignment before going to Viet Nam. He was a outstanding NCO and taught me a lot about army life and NCO's. In particular, I took poker lessons from Sgt Lewis on a regular basis while we were in the DomRep. I must say, it was very expensive lessons.
