Lt Meyerkord ~ I was a year old when you began serving in Nam. I just wanted you to know what a remarkable and extraordinary officer you were and I just found out a ship was name in your honor. My nephew Anthony, 19, just went into the Navy and he loves it, best thing he ever did. Thank you again for serving your country! Rest in Peace and G-D Bless you, Harold.

An Outstanding Officer and Friend.
Dale was an outstanding officer and my friend. We served together in DESRON NINE from 1963-65. We had differing opinions about most things, which made our frequent conversations great. He was true to his beliefs and served with honor. I think of him frequently and hope that his daughter and wife are OK. I still have copies of stories that appeared in Life and National Geographic about his life and death. He was a fine man.
