Solider
Traverse City, MI., 49684, USA
I was serving, in Co., B, 2nd/12th, 1st, Cav., Div.. I believe, it was, Jan 28, 1967, when we, took off, from L.Z., English, to some obscure L. Z., Capt., Bird was, on the first, lift, of ships and I was, on the second, lift, into the L. Z., that's when we took, HEAVY ground fire and Capt., Bird was hit, along, with his RTO., John Bankowski, who was killed, on that L. Z.. There were, numerous other wounded, including my self. Capt., Bird, was a Hell, of a company, comander, well liked and respected, by his men. If memory serves me correctly, the day he was shot, it was, his birthday. I Know he made Major, after that incident, But I still remember Him, as Capt., Bird. Rest in peace, sir.

Just, a few words, to HONOR your memory, on your birthday, for the day, you succumbed, to your wounds, received, in 1967, on October 18th, 1984. To those, who knew and served with you will, always remember I'm sure, to those who, HONOR, your SERVICE, DEDICATION and COURAGE, will never forget a SOLDIER, like you.
