To my grandpa: I have had many things in my life that I regret. I would have to say the largest one is never getting to meet you. I have heard so much about you. Tonight I got on the internet and was very happy to find a man that knows of you. It is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I feel like I know you now. Mom misses you so much. You are with grandma now and I am so happy. I cannot wait to see you. I just want to thank you for blessing me with the life that I have. You have left me with a grandpa that is awesome. I just want you to know that although I never knew you, I think of you everyday. For anyone else, if you knew my grandpa, you are very lucky. My Friend Bob Abernathy
Bob and I were highschool buddies. He went in the Air Force and I went in to the Army Field Artillery and we lost track of each other. Last saw him briefly in the early 1960s. Today I visited the "Moving Wall" to see his name, take an impression and fondly remember the good times we had together, as boys. Although we were out of touch for many years, he always had a special place in my heart as one of my best friends.
