Ken Rogge ken_rogge@hotmail.com Friend 222 Glenwood Circle Manchester, mi 48158 usa My memory of Jim White I first met Jim in the snack bar at Tahkli. We were in the serving line together and spoke just a few words. I went to a table and moments later he stopped and asked if he could join me. That started a short, but memormable, friendship. He told me of his brother and that he routinely recieved updates and films from NASA. I invited him to join me on TV to talk about NASA. He came on three times and was a wonderful guest. Within minutes of meeting someone he was their friend. One of our people collected something unusual (I can't remember what) and explained it to Jim. He showed intense interest. Later I asked him if he was really interested. He said no but that airman was and that make it important. I will never forget this wonderful man. I miss him. Sunday, June 05, 2005 |

John Adams johnadams@comcast.net High school classmate NJ Jim and Ed White - two American heros Jim was my high school class president and was a star basketball player at Northeast High School in St. Petersburg Fl in 1960. He was an Air Force Academy graduate. He had a great personality and was liked by everyone. 40 years later I still can remember his smile, great sense of humor and bright red hair. I knew Jim and was saddened when I heard about his death and then found his name on the wall years ago. I think of him whenever I have gone to DC and the WALL. Jim's brother Ed White died in the tragic Apollo fire that killed him and Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral. Their father was an AF General.
