Dai-Kha Dinh a1b02994@axion.net I was there, as the on duty VN., medic I just want to clarify, the circumstances of Major, Buis' demise. From that group, of US., advisors, in Bien Hoa, VN., the more experienced, men, (major, Buis and master-seargent, Ovnand) got killed. It was a commando raid, during a movie break. When the gun battle started, between the guerilla and the VN., sentries, major, Buis went, to a window to investigate. Seargent, Ovnand, was running upstairs, to get his weapon. (kept in the bedroom) A time bomb, carried, by a guerilla exploded prematurely, very close to the window, used, by major, Buis and destroyed part, of his head, killing him instantly. Seargent, Ovnand was hit, by submachine gun, from behind and went down, at the top, of the stair. The other men took cover, by reflex and reacted, a bit later. I was the medical officer, on duty and had, the sad task of examining, the bodies and signing, the temporary, death certificates. (the advisor group, didn't have medical personel, with them) Sunday, April 03, 2005 |
