A FALLEN FRIEND, I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN. I STILL MOURN HIM, AFTER 40, YEARS!
Our paths widened after we joined the military. It was March, 1967 and Bob was enroute, to some special training prior to be sent, to Viet Nam. Bob looked great and sincerely, liked the Army. I never saw him again, I remember the news, of his death and the flag-draped casket, at the funeral home. REST EASY.

40, years ago, you fell, to enemy gunfire. This ultimate sacrifice has not, gone unnoticed. We can't find words, to thank you. Only a chosen few would do, what you have done. May you rest in peace, in heaven for you left hell. God bless, all your family. You, sir, are not forgotten and this is proof.

. We made plans to travel, around the U.S. together, after the war. Sadly, we never got that chance. Still remember him singing, "Groovin," while we were walking through the rice paddies, you always had a smile on your face. I see you got married on your r & r. of All I miss your care packages, from your family, Bob, at that time you were the most talk about guy, they sent everything to you and you shared, with all of us, you are the best offficer and a true hero. I still think of him, often and wonder, what might have been. Miss you.

You are not, forgotten Bob Byrnes
I knew Bob from the 3th, grade, when we moved to Carmichael, until high school, graduation, 1963. He was a true friend, Never did I hear him cuss, or belittle anyone. He was a true christian, a true leader and a friend, I will, never forget Bob. I have prayed, at his grave and I will never forget, the "cherry tomatoes," from his grandfather. The tomatoes were the best home grown, Bob used to bring his tomatoes and pass them around, at school for lunch. Maybe someday, if I'am lucky, I will see my friend again. PS., I just found, this site today.

Bob led by example, never putting his men where he wouldn't, go himself. A fair and decent man. A great leader, who was loved, by his troops.
