Gary Schofenbuger Bob, to young, to die. Lake Ronkonkoma, NY., 11779, USA the runner from down the steet Bob, found this page by chance. It's over 40, years, now, I was 14, that February, but I still remember the telephone call, as if it were yesterday, you work for ma bell the telphone co., you were up on the pole in our back yard and called us, told us the phone was fixed and what is, for lunch today. The family still speaks of you, as a hero, not that it does you any good. You were the strength, of your family. My parents always had your picture on their bedroom mirror, you were alway their for us, when we lived in Carmichael. You will not be forgotten! With fondest memories, that were cut much to short, your neighbour, Gary Feb 12, 2008 |

William Galloway High School & Church Friend Seminole, Fl., 33776, USA Our Lady, of the Assumption School and La Sierra, High School Bob was, in our graduation class, at La Sierra, High School, 1963. I remember him as a guy, with a positive attitude who always had a smile, on his face. I heard that he went, into the military and became an officer. I also found out later, that he had died in service, to his country. I'am sure he served, his men and gave them the same positive leadership, that he demonstrated, in high school. He is missed by all, who knew him. Feb 12, 2008 |

Prescott   Smith Officer Candidate School I first met Bob when we started Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill OK, in September of 1965. Over the six months of OCS, Bob and I became close friends. Bob had a tremendous vitality for life and had an honesty and passion and most of all leadership that was very recognizable. The two of us came from different parts of the country and really had little in common, however I will always remember the special friendship that we formed during a very challenging time in our lives. Later in our OCS experience when we were lucky enough to have weekend passes ,He han a brand new olds 442 with a 4 speed I would go for rides in Bob's new car , what a car. We had many long talks and shared the feelings that we had about our families and our dreams. Bob was very out going and I was not, as we seemed to compliment each other and be a good team. In April of 1966 when we became Senior Candidates, Bob and I performed a Smothers Brothers Act during our Senior Candidate Ball, at the Fort Sill Officers Club and just about brought the house down.
After May of 1967, I never saw Bob again. He was so good at OCS school they keep Bob they keep him as a teacher everyone loved Bob ar OCS. I served with the 75th Rangers in Vietnam and returned to the States in early January of 1968. After a thirty day leave I was assigned to Fort Benning, Georgia to the Ranger Department. In February of '68, while reading the Army times in the Day room of the Ranger School I discovered that Bob had been killed. I broke down and cried like a baby. In the years since then I often think about Bob and although it is painful to think of his death I seem to always get a smile on my face when I think about our special friendship and the fun we had togehter. Bob will always be in my heart and his friendship and his family will be part of who I am forever.
