DENNIS  TANGA dtanga@hawaii.edu Childhood friend 331 Hookahi St. #204 Wailuku HI 96793 USA The years have gone by I grew up with Cat here on the island of Maui and it was a total surprise for me to run into Catalino at Da Nang Air Field. I left before he was scheduled to leave, but had taken extra leave time so we could reunite for a few days here at home. The night I heard he was killed, I packed my bags and left Maui. All these years I thought that I was the last person from Maui to see Cat alive. Then I found this web-site and see that Tony Almasin had also met Catalino. Jul 9, 2011 |

Tony Almasin aalmasin@aol.com Just, Another Maui, Vietnam Vet., 987, Noholani St., Haiku, HI., 96708, USA A Fellow Vet., I met Catalino, at Da Nanag, Airbase, just before, the fatal rocket attack. I was in the Army, stationed, at Camp Horn, across the river, from the airbase. By August, 1972, there were only a handful, of Hawaii brothers, in the area and Catalino was, but one, of only four of us, that I knew, of. (the other two, that I remember, was Clayton Iokepa and Ralph Berard) He was, short (days left, in country) and was looking forward, to returning home, to Maui - I still had, 3-months, to go. I vividly remember, the many rocket, assaults and heard, of his death, the next morning, of the attack, on August 18th. War is hell! May you forever, rest in peace. Apr 3, 2009 |

James Lofquist jrdjlofquist@msn.com friend and co airman, at danang airbase mn., usa I was, a close friend and co airman with Catalino. I will always, remember his dedication, to his duties, as a aircraft mechanic. We worked side, by side, on o2a, aircraft, as flight mechanics. I remember the night, of the rocket attack, that took his life. His loss meant, a lot to me. Not only was, he a great friend, but also a great guy, to be around. You are often, in my thoughts, Jim Nov 22, 2006 |
