The height of the war.
And none mentioned that his three year tour encompasses the very height of the war. Thank you for your service and may God bless you. Thank you so much.

Poem
Today i saw a small plane - some miracle of human evolution and God's grace permitting hunks of metal to be extracted from the Earth and separated from the rock that held them so well and so long and flung with magesty and the nudge of throttle into the air, to remain there for awhile, like a crow, without being shot down, or crashing in delirium or malfunction or some other force of gravity pulling them back to earth. A guide dog pressed snug to hip and chest - and just now a friend who is 80 waves from her car... Oh, what yearning to live was stolen by bullets in Nam? How many times did camo-clad brothers...walking point, or simply at rest for a moment by tree...best friend or not, ten years or ten months or ten days under their belt with training stateside and at sea and in Nam...how many times died, we there in Nam when the metal bit deep and the pulse of our heartbeat was silent? From then until now and as long as i liue i want you to know i died there, too. With statue/rock in D.C. and this place on the net? i am here, and tho' living i died...and though thankful for Life - every day - i'm sorry for all that we lost

Dave, I had been, looking for you, for thirty years and when I got a computer, I tried, to get, your address. One day, I got up the nerve, to check the "Virtual Wall," website, hoping your name would not, be there and when I saw you, listed, I stared at the screen, in disbelief. You were like, a little brother, to me and I can still see, your face through the distance, of these years as clear, as if it, were yesterday. I will, never forget you, bro.
