He was, my lieutenant

I was, a squad leader, at LZ., Nancy, when Lieutenant, Gribble came, to us, as a green, 2nd, Lieutenant and I, watched him mature, into one, of the finest officers, under whom, I served, in Vietnam. 1LT., Gribble lead, an engineer unit, in reopening, Khe Sahn, in the Lam Son, 719, mission and his tour there, was anything, BUT easy. He returned, to LZ., Nancy, haggard and SHORT. to receive, a "Dear John" letter, Coupled, with all he had been, through, it was more than he, could handle. He was, a good man and I was proud, to serve, under him.
