It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves under the flag, And whose coffin is draped in the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag. ©Copyright by Charles M. Province Throughout our history America has been built on the blood of Heros and Brave Men of Honor like this Solider. Thank you for your service, bravery, and for the ultimate sacrifice you have made. Thank you for my freedom. Rest well in Gods loving embrace brave solider. Youngest child, youngest daughter
Jimmy R. Griffin, was my father. I never knew him, as I was, only one, year old, when he went, to Vietnam and just, over two, years old, when he died. For a time, I felt his loss greatly, however, I have come, to realize and accept, that he did, what he felt, was his duty. I have access, now, to his war records. he was found, hanging, with his hands, tied, behind his back. Therefore, I find the listing, of his death, as being, a suicide, totally wrong and offensive. He left behind, a wife and 3, very small children. I have read his letters, to my mum and found him, to be very human, a very loving, kind, caring man, who did put his duty, before anything else. He was looking forward, to leaving Vietnam, so that he could finally, spend time, with his family. Sadly, he was unable, to do this. I miss him, to this day and like, to think, he is watching, over, not only me, but his grandson, Anthony. I love you, Daddy, Jackie.
