Beverly Stein bookkeeper57@verizon.net Sister 9520, Paulding Road, New Haven, IN., 46774, United States I didn't know Dear Brother, Becky called and asked, for your uniform, because she wanted, to wear it, a 2nd time. The first was, when she got, her senior picture, taken in 2002. now she wants, to wear in, on her school's, Hero Day - Becky is, a Jr. High, Lutheran, School Teacher, on Maui. As I was getting, out your uniform, I found the newspaper article, of when you were awarded, the Bronze Star, after your death. It read, 'On 5, March 1968, during Operation, Saline II, Company A, was engaged, in a search and clear mission, near the village, of Dai Do, in Quang Tri, Province, when one of the platoons, was pinned down, by heavy, enemy, small arms and automatic, weapons fires, wounding, six Marines. Ignoring, the heavy volume, of hostile fire, Petty Officer, Bandelier ran across, the fire-swept terrain, to reach the injured, men and pull them, behind the cover, of grave mounds. He then skillfully, adminisered, first aid and supervised their evacatuion, from the hazadous area, leaving, only after ensuring, that all the casualities, were moved, to safety. Wayne, I never fully realized, what you did and how you impacted, so many lives, during the war and after. I love and miss you. I hope, you and Dad, are enjoying Heaven and I look forward, to when I can join, you, two. Feb 18, 2010 |

Beverly  Bandelier Stein bookkeeper57@verizon.net Sister Veteran's Day - November 11, 2009 I was thinking of you on this Veteran's Day. I miss you and still remember the McDonald milk shakes you would buy me when I was a little girl. I wish I could have been there when Dad came home - Did you two have a good reunion? I love you. This may seem silly to people who read this, but I feel like I am talking directly to you. Talk to you soon. Nov 11, 2009 |

 'I'm the One Called 'Doc…'
I shall not walk in your footsteps,
but I will walk by your side.
I shall not walk in your image,
I've earned my own title of pride.
We've answered the call together,
on sea and foreign land.
When the cry for help was given,
I've been there right at hand.
Whether I am on the ocean
or in the jungle wearing greens,
Giving aid to my fellow man,
be it Sailors or Marines.
So the next time you see a corpsman
and you think of calling him 'squid',
Think of the job he's doing
as those before him did.
And if you ever have to go out there
and your life is on the block,
Look at the one right next to you…
I'm the one called 'Doc'.
