He was the best officer I ever served under while a Marine. I was shocked and saddened by his death when I found out in DaNang while reading The Stars and Stripes newspaper. I heard from a fellow Marine, Eddie Neas that Leatherneck magazine had a story wherein another Marine who knew the Gunner mentioned how he couldn't believe that he was dead. I second that emotion. Oorah and Semper Fi to you Gunner Holycross. We who served under you will never forget you. We salute you and your surviving loved one. From Reverend Anthony Winfield, former Corporal and Vietnam veteran who served with Hotel Company 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division- 1967-1968
