Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings, Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things. You have not dreamed of wheeled and soared and swung, high in the sunlit silence, hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace, where never lark, or even eagle flew, and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of God. Rick Goodin RickGoodin@cartegraph.com Fellow Door gunner 3035 Olde Country Lane Dubuque, IA 52001Lost Hero I did not know Mike very well. We came into the helicopter unit at about the same time. We were both infantrymen that voluteered to be door gunners to get out of the field. I never flew with Mike, however I would have been proud to do so. I flew many times with the other members of the crew that died that day. I will remember Mike always because he was flying for for me that day. I was grounded the night before because I had flown to many hours the previous three days. Life is often mysterious and unexplainable. Saturday, May 27, 2000
