A/159 ASHB Chinook Pilot
Colorado Springs CO
Two days into F.B. FULLER
I supported Firebase Fuller with food, water, ammo, culvert sections concertina wire on 22nd and 23rd June, 1971. My Chinook received enemy fire in the form of 12.7mm radar controlled guns and .51 Cal green tracers. Luckily we did not get hit while dropping off six loads. Hit the NVA with 'PHUGAS' (10 loads)on their mortar positions. Talked to the Advisors in their bunkers letting us know which was the best route to the top. Usually came up from Camp Carroll over the MedeVac pad. Not enough to save them, but a valiant effort by all concerned.

My Dad gave his life for his country and we are all very proud to have such a great man as our father. He was a really funny, nice and honorable officer.
