Though I never met you Ron, I feel as if you are a part of my family. I found your name in DC at a Vietnam Mmemorial support site, and decided to wear your MIA arm bracelet and, I wore it until I retired from the Navy. Your name on my bracelet - is now in my Retirement Shadowbox, where it will remain forever. After I pass, my oldest son will display with Honor - 'HN Ronald J. Manning.' Sir, you will not be forgotten.

Still thinking of you Ron "Archie" 33 yrs ago today
Today has always had a special meaning to me as it is alway a time to reflect how lucky I am to have had a life beyond my time in the service. I like to think that Ron would have had a great life too. Instead he made it possible for me and my children to have one.

I was in Ron's sister company in basic training, in his company in corps school, and his roommate in Portsmouth, Va. We had a lot of laughs and good times together. I sold him my MG Midget when I left Portsmouth. I kept in touch after I left but lost touch not long after he graduated FMS. I learned from a mutual friend not long after he was MIA. I have tried ever since to find what had happened to him. A few years ago I read an article in Popular Science Magazine about trying to identify human remains found at the sight of his crash. Recently I discovered that they did identify his remains. I have been to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington numerous times and still get choked up when I see his name so near the end of the last panel. I still think of him often when I reflect on my time in the military.

We'll neever forget you Ron!
HERO is just a word, but Ron was a great guy and we all liked him greatly, he had humor, and really cared for others. I knew him when we were young and full of life. He worked in the E.R. @ Portsmouth Regional Medical Center, Va. Do you remember? When rotation came up, he got FMF, and in a few short months he was gone. I am not sure why, but he was good and he died young. We will never forget his life and the memories he has left with us. God has a hero we had a friend! I think of him every May, every year.
