I was with hiim that day...
38-C Clements Bridge Rd. Barrington NJ 08007 USA
He is forever in my thoughts and dreams...
I can picture him today just like everyday.. he was a scappy little new jersey kid just like I was and he could sing... he used to sing 'monday monday' and to this day whenever i hear that song i hear him and my heart misses him.. I don't know what to say for I still question whether I could have saved him that day... After all these years I guess I am trying to say I am sorry... I was there with him, he actually took the spot that I had just moved from when I went right further down the side of the hill... I saw three of the enemy in the bush ahead and at the same time patrick was lifting up to see what was going on and i yelled and fired... I saw Patrick get hit and fall to the ground.. The constant haunting memory of if I had fired quicker, reacted just a moment sooner then the world would be a better place for Patrick was a person who made others feel wanted and was loved by all who knew him.. If you ever saw his smile or heard him sing you would have seen the priceless treasures that only god could create.. I miss you and will love you always patrick eugene mcbride... Albert Spinelli

My father and your father were good friends in brooklyn. I knew your dad and your sister Kate from the neighborhood. I went into the marine corps a year after you, but I lost track of what unit you were with in the nam. I hope someone who reads this will let me know some background on your unit. The world is a lesser place without you Pat. God Bless

I sat next to Patrick in high school home room for four years. He was a wonderful fun loving guy that lifted up those around him. I am not surprised that he ended up serving with the best but it saddens me that he had to pay the ultimate price. The day he was killed I was about 200 miles south of him. Rest in Peace Pat.
