John was one of four Marines from Recruit Platoon 2212, San Diego, 4 November 1966 who made the ultimate sacrifice in the war in Vietnam. John was a member of Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines. The other three Marines from Platoon 2212, who would also die in that war, were LCpl Charles Lee Gass, Cpl James Joseph Tedesco and Pfc Jose Antonio Tinajero. Semper Fi
