Mr Meldahl, It has been so many years since this crash, but I still remember the morning just like it was today. Terrible weather, but you guys were willing to go and see if you could get through to help others in need. God Bless you.

I wasn't in country when the 053 went down, but I remember flying into BMT as an FE in 71 and we were always searching the ground to see if we could spot it. I'm happy you finally made it home! God Bless you and thank you!

Hero Never Forgotten
I was ATC Tower Chief 1968 thru 1972, Dong Ba Thin Airfield. I was last to speak to Freight Train 053 that fateful day of bad weather. It didnt stop your efforts to complete the mission. Never Forgotten Heroes, you are along with the other '053' crew lost that day. God Bless and Thanks always

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings, Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things. You have not dreamed of wheeled and soared and swung, high in the sunlit silence, hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace, where never lark, or even eagle flew, and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of God. Just a few words to HONOR your memory on the day you were declared KILLED-IN-ACTION, REMAINS RECOVERED in 1974. You are remembered.
