Thinking of you, roommate
Gary and I were your roommates during part of Plebe year. I think of you often: your laugh and your sense of fun. I was in Germany when I heard of your death. After all these years, it still hurts. Grip hands, brother.

In 1975 a scared, just-graduated-from-highschool, 17 year old took a bus ride from Billings MT to Butte a flight from Butte to San Diego and a short ride to the front gates of boot camp to begin a 14 year Naval career. Those 14 years don't begin to repay the 53 days of active duty you gave in Vietnam, or the loss of you in that war, but I'm proud to have been in your company serving our country. I too wear the Vietnam service ribbon, and am blessed to know you've watched over me in the times since. I'm thankful and proud that you are my godfather. May God bless you and keep you Michael.

Michael, I've thought of you often in my life. You were always someone I looked up to as I grew up. I remember staying at your home with your parents and all your brothers and sister. I followed your career, Assumption Abbey prep school, wrestling champion, West Point graduate, hero going off to war. The last time I saw you was at your sister's wedding on the family farm, you were smiling and bigger than life as usual. I've visited the wall in D.C. and found your name more than once. Made a rubbing of your name to remember your sacrafice. Your dad and brother are with you now, the rest of us will soon follow. "Greater love hath no man than he give his life for his friends." D. BURT
A GRATEFUL AMERICAN
RHODE ISLAND USA
***TO HONOR AN AMERICAN HERO NOT FORGOTTEN***

Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid, they have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrificesö. - PRESIDENT HARRY S. TRUMAN ~ ~ ~ LT MICHAEL LEO NATHE, UNITED STATES ARMY - Although many years have passed, you are not forgotten this day nor will you ever be. I will forever be grateful for your honorable service and supreme sacrifice that you have so courageously bestowed upon our nation. You will forever live in the hearts of all of those you have touched. ~~~~ I am very grateful and would like to honor all of our Vietnam veterans who have so proudly and courageously served our country. No veteran should ever be forgotten. The veteran who lived through this horrible war, left with everlasting memories and whose lives may be altered forever, the disabled veteran who returned with hardships and many permanent reminders and the pain of that war, the POW/MIA veteran we wait for and whose family and friends are tormented for so, so long not knowing and the fallen veteran who gave his/her life at such a young age leaving their families, loved ones and friends devastated forever - all had one thing in common and that was to fight for our freedom, our country - we owe them so much and a thank you is where to begin and to never forget them for their gallantry, fortitude and valor. I respectfully salute each and every one of them.~~~~ ôI have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Timothy 2:4:7
