Ernie was my neighbor.

I lived across the street from you and your family. I remember your last Home On Leave. I was 12. I remember watching you polish your boots for hours until you could see yourself. I remember asking you why. ' Because I'm a Marine, boy ' you said with a smile. I remember the cars and the Marine Officers coming to your home that bright, sunny day when Dad, Terry and I were cutting the grass. I remember my Dad telling me and my brother to ' Go inside and get your Mom right now '. I remember them and their slow walk down our driveway to your home. They were both soldiers in WW II. I remember their tears when they came back.......I remember it all as if it were yesterday, Ernie. Was your death a waste? Was the war a waste? Probably, but you did what you had to do, Marine.

Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. "He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless You for your Sacrifice!!!
