'Red' (Gerald)  Keeney Red.Keeney@hotmail.com High School Buddy 100 Northwood Dr Oakland Tn 38060 USA Thoughts of an old buddy... As a 'survivor' of Vietnam myself I still think of my old buddy. He was a gung ho Marine...I was a gung ho Army artillery man. Wish that I could've brought my old buddy home with me. I think of him and many of my old Army buddies often...wish now that we could have brought all of them home. My folks used to say that 'we get old too soon, smart too late.' Pray for our Iraq/Afghanistan warriors now, that their efforts won't be in vain. Sep 4, 2008
Fellow  Marine Well done Marine rest in peace THE TIME you won your town the race We chaired you through the market-place Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high. To-day, the road all runners come, Shoulder-high we bring you home, And set you at your threshold down, Townsman of a stiller town. Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose. Eyes the shady night has shut Cannot see the record cut, And silence sounds no worse than cheers After earth has stopped the ears: Now you will not swell the rout Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran And the name died before the man. So set, before its echoes fade, The fleet foot on the sill of shade, And hold to the low lintel up The still-defended challenge-cup. And round that early-laurelled head Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead, And find unwithered on its curls The garland briefer than a girl’s. A.E. Housman, "Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you. I've called your name. You're mine. Isaiah 43:1 (REN) Semper Fi

Chuck Ward vetswithamission@backroads.net High school classmate & friend 1601 Martin Street Newberry, SC 29108 "You Won't Beleive it!" Johnny, It's been a long time since we last bowled together on the Assumption High School bowling team. With Bill Hart's recent passing, I am the only survivor left because Charlie Geller and John Lindner suffered the same fate you did in Vietnam. I'm the only one who made it back. You won't believe it but I am in fulltime ministry and return to Vietnam with humanitarian teams. Your sacrifice is honored with our work, and I think you would be pleased. Still miss you after all these years.Chuck, VA-195, USS Oriskany '69, USS Kitty Hawk & Da Nang '70-'71, Kitty Hawk again winter-spring '72. Wednesday, May 21, 2003
