Thank You
Jessie Alba
We want to thank you sir for serving our country; for being brave-risking your life to protect ours. Our class went to Washington D.C. and visited the Vietnam Memorial. We saw your name, the last name on the wall. The wall is a big group of names, listed together. They are names of people who had families, husbands, wives, and children. So the only thing we have to say is thank you Jessie Alba. Thank you so very much!

One of a million heros
On Thursday, April 19, "The Wall" came to our town. For an English assignment, I had to go to The Wall and look for a name to write about. I looked at the Pyramid shaped wall, and at the very corner of it, there was a name, Jessie C. Alba. For it being at the very end and standing out from the others,I decided to choose that name. Jessie C. Alba, a 20 year old, single, Caucasian, male was born on September 25, 1947, in Fort Lavaca, Texas. His tour of duty began on December 14, 1967, and served for a legth of 1 year in South Vietnam. His rank was SGT-E5 in the 101st Airborn Division. As a ground casualty, Mr. Alba died of multiple fragmentation wounds on May 25, 1968. Although "The Wall" is a great reminder of the terrible consequences of wars, it was still a very chilling and sad experience for me. It was frightening to see how many men died in the war, when more than 95% of them were under 25 and had no choice but to fight. I'm glad I got to have this experience because I got to learn about at least one person who fought in the Vietnam War. I believe that SGT. Alba represents the tradedies of war, and he will always remain in my mind.

A hero
On September 25th, 1998, The wall, came, to our school. On that cold morning, I stood and looked at that wall, captivated, by what I saw. I noticed, this man's name, and said aloud, "Jessie Alba." At the same time, my friend, said his name, and we both looked, at each other in astonishment. Then we looked, at his birthdate, it was September 25th, 1947. Somehow, we both agreed, each person, on the wall has a presence, that the wall brings with it. These Heroes deserve, to be remembered and Jessie, made it happen. Thank You, Jessie.
