Ruben and I went through boot camp together starting September 1968. Alphabetically, we were next to each other so we spent some time together. Ruben was a good man and a better Marine. I was lucky to survive my tour in Viet Nam, Ruben did not......how do you figure this stuff?? I'd be interested in corresponding with other Marines from MCRD Platoon 3073. Rest in Peace my brother.

My Brother...My Protector....My Friend
This man was my protector. He watched over me and the men I went to treat. He was at my side when all hell was breaking loose. When I exposed myself to hostile fire, I did so knowing that Ruben had me covered and I always felt safe.
His smile and laugh brightened the darkest times. He was MY FRIEND, courageous, strong, yet a heart of gold.
When I think Marine.....It is Ruben I picture....I miss you My Brother, you will never be forgotten by this Man.

There are many Marines from El Valle with you on the WALL. We of LA RAZA were few, but we were everywhere and we fought hard and proud. We gave our all to LA CROTCHA (THE CORPS). Its been 36 years ago TODAY since you gave the supreme and ultimate sacrifice for OUR COUNTRY. You served honorably and died gallantly in the field of battle. A True MARINE, a Hero. WE WON'T FORGET.
