The Last Home Cooked Meal
Bob and I went to the Defense Language School in Monterey CA. The weekend of our last liberty ... he and others came to my Mom's house in Albany, Ca for dinner. It was a great time, a Family time ... and after all those years I remember it well. I remember the bus ride the plane flight and then Okinawa and 5 cent beer! When we landed in Da Nang we were in line together for orders ... that was the last time I saw him. The memories will never fade ...

Memories from The Presidio to Khe Sanh
I was honored to serve with Rogers at both the Defense Language School in Monterey CA. and in Vietnam . Along with the others in our class we flew to Okinawa then on to Vietnam together. Also, being assigned to the 3rd Bn/ 26th Marines we found ourselves at Khe Sanh only days after entering country. There our paths took different directions. His to Heaven and mind to linger awhile. I have one memory that has lasted a lifetime. Prior to leaving The Presidio I remember Rogers' family coming to see him off. I will never forget as they followed us for awhile in their car along side of our bus headed for San Fransico and Travis Air Force base. I will always remember seeing his family waving goodbye to their Son/brother/friend. I am so happy that they were able to see their Hero that day. I will always remember that day and the days that followed.
