Dear Friend

I still miss you...
I knew Terry from the Santa Barbara skating rink as my family almost lived there! Terry taught me how to skate backwards (rexing) and how to speed skate. Many wonderful memories of Terry. I remember his smile and how it would melt your heart. He has always held a very special place even after all this time. If I was to have an older brother, I would have wanted Terry to be him. Miss you my friend.

Our Family all Loved you so
I met Terry at the Fox theater in Santa Barbara the summer of 7th grade. He was so handsome, and fun and good at everything he did. He was an instant hit with my whole family. He and Steve (his brother) both. He loved to skate and I went to as many of his speed skating events as I could. He was just so full of life. I remember the day before he left he came to my door in his marine uniform and me being the coward that I am, begged him not to go. He wasn't having any of that. Being the person that he was, he gave everything he had to his country and family and friends. We loved him, we miss him and he will always be in our hearts. I was and still am very proud of him. Rest in peace Terry till we see you again

Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. "He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother”. Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless You for your Sacrifice!!!

Fellow  Marine
Well done Marine rest in peace

THE TIME you won your town the race We chaired you through the market-place Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high. To-day, the road all runners come, Shoulder-high we bring you home, And set you at your threshold down, Townsman of a stiller town. Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose. Eyes the shady night has shut Cannot see the record cut, And silence sounds no worse than cheers After earth has stopped the ears: Now you will not swell the rout Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran And the name died before the man. So set, before its echoes fade, The fleet foot on the sill of shade, And hold to the low lintel up The still-defended challenge-cup. And round that early-laurelled head Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead, And find unwithered on its curls The garland briefer than a girl’s. A.E. Housman, "Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you.
I've called your name. You're mine.

Terry and I used to play football in our early teens. He was a tough kid, but was always careful not to hurt anyone. He always seemed so happy. I think of him as a good friend. I am so very sorry that he has not been able to grow older with the rest of us.

Terry Shalhoob and Bruce Holderman were roller rink skating buddies of mine and my brother 'Chip', back in the early sixties in Santa Barbara. He was always a good sport and a decent friend. I miss him still.

My brothers and I grew up with Terry, he was a special freind and neighbor. We had many adventures as kids. I think of him so often and the unfairness of his death. I don't know if I would still be in touch with him today, if he was still living, but I would like to think that Terry would always be a part of my life, and in some ways he still is.
