GLEN EMERY SHROPSHIRE

Loren  Evenson
Hometown friend
The memory of Glen E. Shropshire is honored in his hometown, Sandpoint, Idaho. His name is on the War Memorial with all the heroes from Bonner County since World War I. A rubbing of his name from The Wall will be placed in the Bonner County Historical Museum in City Park adjoining War Memorial Field overlooking Lake Pend Oreille. We worked together in the summer of 1964 for the U.S. Forest Service in Blister Rust Control at Priest Lake, Idaho, where he was highly thought of.

Glen was a good man. My mom and Glen were very close cousins. She has showed me pictures and has told me my whole life what a great man he was with his wife and kids. You will be forever missed by all of your family.

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings, Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things. You have not dreamed of wheeled and soared and swung, high in the sunlit silence, hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace, where never lark, or even eagle flew, and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of God. Not Forgotten
Today would have been your 58th birthday. It is sad that no one has left a comment on your page. Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice for our country. You are not forgotten.
