How does a person who you never met become such a poignant figure in your life? My Uncle Chuck has only existed to me through photos and stories from family and dear friends who have all shared in his ultimate sacrifice. And yet, I think of him often and that void can only be filled with pride. So on this day of remembrance, I reflect on his spirit and I am honored and proud of Uncle Chuck.

Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. "He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother”. Rest in peace brave soldier, you have not been forgotten. (W.Shakespeare) May God Bless You for your Sacrifice!!!

Fellow  Marine
Well done Marine rest in peace
THE TIME you won your town the race We chaired you through the market-place Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high. To-day, the road all runners come, Shoulder-high we bring you home, And set you at your threshold down, Townsman of a stiller town. Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose. Eyes the shady night has shut Cannot see the record cut, And silence sounds no worse than cheers After earth has stopped the ears: Now you will not swell the rout Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran And the name died before the man. So set, before its echoes fade, The fleet foot on the sill of shade, And hold to the low lintel up The still-defended challenge-cup. And round that early-laurelled head Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead, And find unwithered on its curls The garland briefer than a girl’s. A.E. Housman, "Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you.
I've called your name. You're mine.

my best friend- i think of you often
Chuck Swaim and I where S-2 scouts together with 3rd bn 26th Marines and I was wounded when Chuck stepped on a landmine. We were both from the Pittsburgh area and had joined the S-2 scouts in California at Camp Pendleton. Chuck was my best friend and I miss his smiling face and sense of humor. Chuck's presence is in my heart and I have tried to lead a life that reflects what Chuck desired in his life.

Brother
Chuck was my younger brother. There is never a day that goes by that I dont't think about him. He died at such a young age and never had a chance to know his nephews and nieces much less have a family of his own. Chuck came from a long history of military service to our country that goes back to the Revolutionary War. I know he is with good company. I am getting up their in age and I know that it won't be too much longer before we see each other again. God I miss him so!
